Niagara Falls Crew Half Marathon

Each year, as part of their winter training, high school rowers participate in the Niagara Falls Crew Half Marathon. This year the Niagara Falls Rowing Club was proud to sponsor the event. This indoor ergometer competition has teams of eight rowers race a distance of 21097 meters. This year Saint Paul, St. Michael and A.N. Myer athletes participated in several categories including varsity, second varsity and mixed events. The premier event of the night was the varsity race where Saint Paul high school defended their 2013 championship by winning in a time of 1hour 11minutes, narrowly beating St. Michael by just over 1 minute. This also set a new time record for the varsity race. Saint Paul also won the second varsity race. Great camaraderie and sportsmanship was evident when a mixed team, consisting of A.N. Myer, Saint Paul and St. Michael athletes, raced together to beat the time standard in the mixed team event. Congratulations to all the participants.

The Niagara Falls Rowing Club looks forward to working with these hard working athletes during the 2014 rowing season.
